Buying your eSIM and installing it ahead of time won't use up your plan. For most plans, your validity period and your data only start counting once you first connect to a network at your destination. That means you can buy early, install before you travel, and arrive with everything ready — without losing a single day.
Most plans: the clock starts when you arrive
Your validity period (the number of days) begins on your first connection at your destination.
Your data allowance stays untouched until then, too.
So go ahead and install before you leave — see: How to install your eSIM.
Buying ahead of your trip
You don't have to wait until the last minute. You can buy your eSIM up to 6 months before you travel, and it'll be ready when you are.
Seeing your dates
Once your eSIM is active, your Vuoly dashboard shows when it activated and when it expires, along with how much data you've used and how many days are left.
Some plans start differently
A few plans — usually from local operators — work the other way around: the eSIM has to be activated before it can be issued and installed. You can still buy these ahead of time; you just can't install the eSIM until the plan starts. Right after completing your purchase, you'll see the option to start now or schedule a start date. Each plan's exact rule is shown as its activation policy on the product page, so check there before you buy.
Quick answers
Does installing my eSIM start the clock? For most plans, no — only connecting at your destination does.
Can I buy now and travel later? Yes. Buy ahead, install before you go, and your days start when you arrive.
How do I know which type my plan is? Check the activation policy on the plan's product page. Once it's active, your dashboard shows the activation and expiry dates.
