Installing multiple eSIMs on your device

Most eSIM-compatible devices allow you to install multiple eSIM profiles, though the number of eSIMs that can be installed and active simultaneously depends on your device's model.

  • iPhones: You can store between five and 10 eSIM profiles on an iPhone, depending on the model. However, only one eSIM can be active at a time unless you're using an iPhone 13 or newer, which supports Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA), allowing two active SIMs at once (either two eSIMs or one physical SIM and one eSIM).

  • Android Devices: Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and Huawei allow for storing five to seven eSIM profiles. However, on most Android devices, only one eSIM can be active at a time. A notable exception is the Google Pixel 7 and later models, which support the use of two active eSIM profiles if your carrier allows it.

Dual SIM Functionality

Some devices support Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) or Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) functionality, which allows the use of two SIMs at once. For example, on DSDA devices like the iPhone 13 and newer models, you can use either two eSIMs simultaneously or one physical SIM and one eSIM. On DSDS devices, such as older iPhone models (iPhone XS, XR, 11, 12), you can install multiple eSIM profiles, but only one will be active at a time, with the option to switch between them as needed.

Remember, even if you have multiple eSIMs installed, only one can typically be used for data at a time, while another can be used for calls and messages.
